Borage & Bee
Borage & Bee: is a bespoke floristry business based in Warninglid, West Sussex, offering a relaxed and natural style with the freshest of flowers combining different colours and textures in the most personal of arrangements.
Adela@Borage & Bee: Originally an art historian and museum curator, Adela started as a hobby florist for many years and furthered her passion alongside professional floristry training, developing a distinctive personal style. During lockdown she provided affordable flower arrangements for the local community, later starting Borage & Bee Bespoke Flowers
Why Borage & Bee? The herb Borage, with its distinctive blue/lilac flowers, used to grow in Adela’s Sussex childhood garden. A watercolour of it by Adela’s mother is a treasured possession; Borage also grows wild in her current garden, attracting the bees from her beehives which are drawn to their sweet nectar.

Is the flower which signifies courage and strength - in medieval times the herb was used as a tonic to lift the heart and bring courage and joy.

Adela Hawley
I have always loved flowers - the colours, textures and the scent - and have very happy early memories of picking and arranging flowers from my grandmother’s garden.
Borage and Bee grew out of my desire to be able to create flowers with personality and grace. I enjoy creating flowers to fit not only the brief of my clients but also capturing the spirit of their request.
My style
Flowers can reflect our mood, enhance our day and bring solace and comfort in times of sorrow. They can provide a celebratory flourish, mark significant events, be part of a magnificent send off, or bring comfort to the soul.
My style is relaxed and natural. I carefully choose each bloom and arrange the colours and textures so they feel curated, but with a casual look as if they have just been gathered together from the garden.
I find the greatest pleasure in combining different flowers and adding a personal touch for each client. I love being able to share some of my joy in this thrill of finding the perfect place for a flower.
I use the freshest of flowers and condition them in my home studio so that they will bloom to perfection for an event, or last as long as possible in a home arrangement.

It is such a privilege to provide flowers for funerals and farewell ceremonies. With a personal approach, I am able to find just the right way to help say goodbye, selecting meaningful flowers and arranging them with great care.
Sustainability
As far as possible, I use sustainable techniques in all my floristry. From supporting local and organic farmers, to choosing flowers from growers with the highest standards I aim to minimise the environmental impact.

I can provide arrangements to enhance your wedding ceremony, whether it takes place in a church, hotel or more informal setting. I can create arrangements for the venue and bridal bouquets and flowers for the wedding party with personal and creative touches.

From a dinner party with friends to a birthday celebration or christening party, flowers can set the tone and frame the celebration, providing an elegant backdrop. I will work with you to suit your theme and budget, and provide something very personal and memorable.
